Back to Bewdley!

A Pyrography Workshop at Bewdley Museum

Taking my pyrography workshops on the road is always an adventure, and my trip to Bewdley came with a rather lovely little bonus!

The night before my workshop, I stayed in a horsebox in Catherton. Waking up to alpacas in the field was certainly a different start to the day. It's not every day you get to start your morning with alpacas for company!

With my bags packed and pyrography equipment ready to go, it was time to head to Bewdley Museum to share my love of wood burning with a lovely group of creative people.

As I’m based in Nottinghamshire, I don’t get to Bewdley very often, which makes these workshops extra special. I love visiting new places, meeting people who might never have tried pyrography before, and showing them just how rewarding this mindful craft can be.

Discovering the Art of Wood Burning

Pyrography is the art of decorating wood using a heated pen, and you really don’t need to be an artist to give it a go!

We began by learning how to use the equipment safely and practising different marks, lines, textures and shading techniques. It’s a great way to get comfortable with the pen before moving on to your finished project.

"Perfect way to spend a morning. Tuition was perfect pace and level. Atmosphere, amazing. Now I've got to get the kit to do it more! Thank you."

With templates available and plenty of guidance along the way, everyone could work at their own pace and choose a design that suited them.

One of my favourite things about teaching is seeing people arrive feeling a little unsure, only to realise that they really can do this!

Creating Your Own Wooden Chopping Board

Once everyone had got to grips with the basics, it was time to create something a little more substantial: a personalised wooden chopping board.

From choosing a design to carefully burning it onto the wood, everyone had the chance to put their own stamp on their finished piece.

No two designs are ever quite the same, and that’s part of the magic. You start with a blank piece of wood and leave with something you’ve created yourself.

To finish, the boards were treated with my favourite Super Duper Odie’s Everlasting Light Oil, helping to protect the wood and bring out the natural beauty of each design.

"An excellent workshop. Very enjoyable and fun. Nice to actually work on a project and be able to take it home. 5 stars. Very good value."

And the best bit? Everyone could take their finished creation home with them!

More Than Just Making Something

One of the things I love most about pyrography is how absorbing it can be.

When you’re concentrating on the lines, shading and little details, it’s an opportunity to step away from the everyday to-do list and focus on something creative instead.

"An amazing workshop, Connie! I really enjoyed today, the time stood still and the moment was mine. Great explanations and very informative. Many thanks."

You don’t need to be naturally artistic, have experience with wood burning or arrive with a perfectly formed idea. Just give yourself permission to have a go, learn something new and enjoy the process.

That feeling of looking at your finished piece and thinking, “I made that!” never gets old.

Thank You, Bewdley!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined me at Bewdley Museum, and to Anna and the team for welcoming me back.

It’s always a pleasure to share this wonderfully mindful craft with others, and I’m so grateful to everyone who takes the time to come along, try something new and support what I do.

"I found Connie's workshop via TikTok. She's a really easy going tutor and hosted a really relaxed workshop. She was really encouraging in moments of doubt. I thoroughly enjoyed a few hours taking it easy and concentrating on something rewarding instead of housework!"

Travelling to teach workshops means I get to meet people I might not otherwise have crossed paths with, and that’s one of the loveliest parts of running ConnieFlower.

Thank you for making my visit to Bewdley special.
